Furthermore, three student-athletes qualified for the NCAA National Tournament, the most in a season for UW-Platteville since 2007. In 2016, the Pioneers continued to improve with three wrestlers appearing in the finals of the WIAC Championship, the most since 2006.  Scott Arneson earned an individual WIAC Championship and was named Outstanding Wrestler of the meet. The team went on to claim third place outright at the NCAA West Regional and set a new school record with eight student-athletes earning a top six finish on the podium.  Five Pioneer student-athletes qualified for the NCAA Championship, the most in a season since 1998, as well as three team members earning Academic All-American honors.

“SST” Camp Set For Summer

Many times the beginning wrestlers learn moves and holds in unrelated fashion, and there is no real underlying system or philosophy to the instruction.

This camp is different! It is designed to give the younger wrestlers the fundamentals that are critical for success, as well as teaching them a system. Wrestlers learn how to drill correctly. Wrestlers will also learn the vital importance of stance, hip position, and the techniques that all champions must have. Skills such as set-ups, proper leg attacks, finishes, and the front headlock will be mastered. However, because most championships are won on the feet, takedowns will be the main focus.

Hard Work Equals Success!
